Asphalt Paving Company of Greensboro, INC., also recognized as Long's Trucking and Paving, has a rich history dating back to 1945. Founded by three brothers—James N. Long, "Doc" Long, and George Long—after returning from World War II, the company began as Long Brothers Trucking with just a used 1935 Ford dump truck. In 1952, the brothers partnered with a friend, Sam Martin, and established Asphalt Paving Co. of Greensboro, INC. Over the years, they navigated challenges, including the untimely loss of George Long in 1977, which necessitated changes in ownership and structure. In 1983, James N. Long assumed full ownership, maintaining a commitment to quality service. By focusing on customer satisfaction and building a strong team, the company expanded significantly, now boasting a fleet of over 40 vehicles and ample heavy equipment for various construction needs. In 2011, leadership transitioned to Rene Long Groce, who has worked in the industry for most of her life. Together with her husband Kenny Groce and project manager Greg Gibson, they continue the family's dedication to providing exceptional services, ensuring a safe work environment, and maintaining competitive pricing. Today, Asphalt Paving Company of Greensboro, INC. proudly holds certifications as a DBE, WBE, and HUB contractor, specializing in a broad range of services including dump truck hauling, site grading, and commercial asphalt paving. The company stands as a testament to perseverance and excellence in the trucking and construction industry.
