Founded by a passionate craftsman with a military background, the company began as a cabinet-making operation conducted from a garage, eventually evolving into a multifaceted construction entity. With extensive experience in the cabinet profession, the founder honed his skills by working as a cabinet installer for nearly a decade, during which he worked on approximately 4,000 homes and managed a large team of installers.
In 2002, he transitioned into general contracting and construction supervision and successfully oversaw the building of 108 homes in only two years whilst managing substantial cabinet installations for major builders across Utah. By 2006, he established Backwoods Design as a licensed contractor, further expanding his portfolio by handling complex projects in areas such as Jackson Hole, Wyoming, and Bellevue, Washington. His commitment to excellence resulted in numerous contracts, including work in LDS temples, multi-family apartment complexes, and elementary schools.
In 2012, he earned a B100 general contractor license in Utah and embraced all trades in-house, ensuring exceptional quality control and customer satisfaction. Since mid-2022, Backwoods Design shifted focus to enhancing cabinet construction, culminating in the recent expansion of their shop space and the acquisition of advanced milling equipment.
