C & E Excavating, Inc., founded in 1977 during a blizzard, originated with a simple mission to clear snow from the streets of Elkhart, Indiana. Over the decades, the company has evolved significantly, transitioning from residential snow removal services to a well-established business providing a broad range of excavation and utility services for both residential and commercial projects. By the mid-1990s, C & E Excavating shifted its focus primarily toward utility work for local municipalities, further solidifying its standing in the industry.
Currently led by Ed Bessinger's son Thad Bessinger and partner Bryan Slott, C & E Excavating employs nearly 70 skilled team members and operates 15 crews, consistently delivering quality services within a 75-mile radius of their Elkhart headquarters. Their specialization includes sitework, utility installations, demolition, hydro excavation, and snowplowing. Additionally, they are equipped for recycling operations with three recycling facilities, focusing on concrete and asphalt recycling as well as topsoil and sand production.
Not only dedicated to quality and efficiency in their work, C & E Excavating prides itself on its community involvement, supporting various local initiatives and organizations, including educational programs and charitable groups. Their commitment to both operational excellence and social responsibility positions them as a reliable partner in building infrastructure throughout Indiana and Michigan.
