Homer Electric Association, established in 1945, is a rural electric cooperative dedicated to providing reliable electricity to its members on the southern Kenai Peninsula in Alaska. With a mission to deliver safe and dependable power, the cooperative serves 25,401 member-owners across 36,905 meter locations, spanning a service area of 3,166 square miles. Homer Electric offers innovative energy solutions alongside exceptional customer service at fair and reasonable prices.

The cooperative's origins trace back to nine citizens in Homer who recognized the need for electrification, leading to the formation of Alaska's fifth rural electric cooperative. Homer Electric has since evolved into a robust operation, employing over 130 individuals and maintaining an extensive network of energized lines totaling 2,499 miles.

Homer Electric Association is dedicated to community engagement and offers various programs for energy efficiency, residential and commercial energy savings, and electric vehicle charging solutions. The cooperative also participates in outreach initiatives such as scholarships and educational contests to promote electrical safety.

In terms of power generation, it operates multiple facilities including the Bradley Lake Hydroelectric Plant and Nikiski Combined Cycle Plant. The cooperative continues to seek advancements in energy storage, renewable sources, and sustainable practices, reflecting a commitment to environmental stewardship and innovation in energy solutions.
