Description

Inland Power & Light Co. is a nonprofit, consumer-owned electric cooperative based in Spokane, Washington. Founded in 1937, it is the largest electric cooperative in the state, serving over 34,000 members across 13 counties in eastern Washington and northern Idaho. Established during a time when investor-owned utilities largely overlooked rural areas, Inland Power was created by community members dedicated to providing reliable electricity to local farms and homes.

The cooperative is structured into seven districts, each represented by a member elected to the Board of Trustees, ensuring that the voices of those they serve are heard in governance. This member-centric model means that any profits generated beyond operating costs are allocated back to members through a capital credit system, reinforcing the cooperative's commitment to its community. Inland Power continues to grow, currently operating approximately 46,000 meters and spanning over 7,582 miles of power lines.

Inland Power's mission revolves around community support and sustainability, offering various energy-saving initiatives, financial assistance programs, and rebates for residential, commercial, and agricultural members. The cooperative also engages actively in community services and educational programs to empower its members and enhance local quality of life. With a history dating back to the late 1930s and a dedication to providing 'Electricity at Cost,' Inland Power remains steadfast in fulfilling the energy needs of its members while ensuring equitable service for all.
