Founded in 1969 by Manuel R. Machado, Machado Backhoe, Inc. (MBI) has established itself as a leading provider of excavation and utility services in the community. Starting off with just one backhoe, Manuel built a reputation based on integrity and customer care, fostering lifelong relationships with local farmers and businesses.
In 1983, the company expanded when Manuel's son, Dan, partnered with him, introducing new services such as underground pipeline and demolition. Significant growth followed, including the acquisition of additional equipment and the launch of a precast facility for manufacturing, which began with traditional duck blinds. The family involvement deepened with the joining of Rob, Manuel's youngest son, in 1990, creating a truly family-run enterprise.
Under Dan's and Corinne's leadership, MBI grew its capabilities by adding long reach excavators for lagoon and pond cleaning, along with roll-off dumpsters for demolition projects. The company began engaging in commercial and government contracts, contributing to significant infrastructure developments and wetland restoration efforts in partnership with governmental and conservation agencies.
In 2002, the next generation joined the business; Natalie became the Chief Financial Officer after earning her degree and MBA, while Daniel, with his engineering background, serves as the Chief Operations Officer since 2013. Their leadership embodies the company’s dedication to quality service and the preservation of the family values on which MBI was built.
