Founded in 1973, Pruss Excavation Co. has established itself as a leading excavation contractor in Nebraska, earning recognition for its diverse service offerings and commitment to quality. The company was initially created by James Pruss, Sr. in 1968 and later became a registered corporation in Nebraska. Pruss Excavation specializes in a wide range of excavation projects, including the construction of dams, wetlands, golf courses, and commercial building pads. With a robust fleet consisting of over 50 pieces of heavy equipment, the company prides itself on its capacity to handle various earthmoving tasks.

The leadership has seen a smooth transition through generations, with Jim Pruss, Jr. taking the helm as president in 1985 and Matt Pruss following as vice president in 2001, marking the third generation in the family business. The company’s expertise and dedication to excellence were acknowledged when it was awarded the Equipment World Contractor of the Year in 2021, a testament to its quality services in the excavation industry. Prior to this, Pruss Excavation had also received a nomination for the same accolade in 2004 and was recognized with the Nebraska Governor’s Flood Hero Certificate in 2019 for its recovery efforts after significant flooding incidents.

Pruss Excavation integrates advanced technology in its operations, including fully integrated GPS systems to enhance project efficiency and accuracy. With a bonding capacity of $10 million, the company is well-equipped to undertake large-scale projects. Proudly associated with the Nebraska LICA Chapter (Land Improvement Contractors of America), Pruss Excavation continues to demonstrate its enduring commitment to serving clients with integrity and expertise in the earthmoving sector.
