After relocating to the United States in 1987, Jan recognized a significant market gap in durable, plantable retaining wall blocks. He established a franchise in Riverside County, California, focusing on manufacturing and distributing innovative solutions. This led to the development of the Verdura® block system, designed to be both environmentally friendly and structurally sound. Acknowledged for its versatility, the Verdura® system has gained Caltrans approval and is widely used for various applications, from small gardens to large commercial projects.
Building on the success of Verdura®, Soil Retention has since expanded its product line to include the Enviroflex™ product, a flexible and permeable concrete paving system ideal for fire lanes and parking lots, and Drivable Grass®, a tapered, interlocking concrete block system that is perfect for channels and wetlands.
