The Wood Shop, Inc., based in Orange City, Iowa, has a rich history that intertwines tradition, craftsmanship, and family values. Founded by DeWayne Dykstra, who channeled his passion for woodworking and his Dutch heritage into a thriving business, The Wood Shop began in a small garage. What started as a hobby of crafting cabinets for family and friends quickly evolved into a successful venture. Throughout the 1980s and into the 1990s, DeWayne and his partner Paul Kroeze expanded their offerings, providing custom-made cabinets and millwork to clients as far as New York City.
In 1993, DeWayne established a dedicated facility in Orange City, marking the official launch of The Wood Shop brand. His mastery in woodworking, various wood species, and finishes facilitated the company's growth over the following decades. The principles of craftsmanship and family were integral, as DeWayne passed his knowledge onto his four sons: Josh, Jon, James, and Jake. The business was officially incorporated in 2016, and in 2018, the next generation took over, growing the team to around 15 professionals and expanding their service area significantly across Northwest Iowa and beyond.
The Wood Shop, Inc. has diversified its services to include full-scale home remodels in addition to custom cabinet manufacturing. The brothers, guided by their father's legacy, now oversee comprehensive project management, ensuring that home remodeling is a smooth and efficient process for their clients. They also maintain a strong commitment to high-quality construction and service, reflecting their Dutch heritage and Christian values.
