Founded in 2006, ZL Construction Corporation, commonly referred to as ZL Corp, began as a small residential remodeling company in Walnut Creek, California. The company's trajectory underwent a significant transformation during the economic downturn of 2008-2010, shifting its focus from residential construction to demolition. This pivot was largely driven by a growing demand for swimming pool removals as homeowners sought to conserve water and reduce maintenance costs, leading ZL Corp to demolish over 150 swimming pools throughout the Greater San Francisco Bay Area.
In 2014, ZL Corp took a major step into commercial demolition with its first large-scale project, demolishing a restaurant for a hotel developer in Foster City, California. This marked the official transition from pool demolition to broader demolition services, establishing the company as a leading expert in Northern California. With their expanding capabilities, ZL Corp moved its headquarters to Concord, California, in 2018 to accommodate a growing staff and increased operations.
Recognizing the need to diversify their services, ZL Corp launched their Concrete Cutting Division in 2019, aiming to provide complementary concrete services alongside their demolition projects. By 2020, they further expanded their portfolio with the introduction of an Underground Division, utilizing existing expertise in excavation and concrete. This diversification continued in 2021 when the company established its Concrete Construction Division, thus covering a full range of services from demolition to construction.
